There are at least 35 Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras in Mendocino County. These cameras are operated by Flock Safety and use artificial intelligence tools to track motorists and passengers. This data is added to a nationwide database to aid law enforcement (including ICE) in mass surveillance.
Local communities have successfully pushed back against this loss of privacy and successfully had Flock (and other mass surveillance tools) removed from their cities and we can do the same here in Mendocino County!
